CG Singers
C.G. Singers is the top vocal ensemble at Center Grove High School in Greenwood, IN. The group is comprised of students in grades 10-12 and specializes in madrigal, concert and chamber styles of choral music.
Upon his hiring in the fall of 2001, Christopher Pratt inherited a group of performers called Opus One. Under the direction of Dan Andersen, who was its founder, the group specialized in Jazz Literature. In the Spring of 2002, after re-auditioning the ensemble, an interim group was created known as Opus 2002. In the fall of 2002, CG Singers met for their first rehearsal with eighteen members.
That group was the first CG Singers to host what has become a favorite annual event, The Madrigal Dinner in the CGHS Hall of Excellence. It features historic costuming, dancers, jesters, knights, and a Master of Revelry in addition to the CG Singers. Thanks to CPO volunteers the Hall of Excellence is transformed to a medieval hall with a stage and long tables for the guests.
Today, CG Singers is a group of select students that specialize in concert, chamber and madrigal styles of music. In addition they hold a demanding performing schedule that includes annual participation in the MIC Vocal Festival, the Madrigal Dinner, and competes at regional and national concert divisions in the springtime.
CG Singers has been named Grand Champion Concert Choir in several regional and national competitions including SHOWSTOPPERS National Concert Choir Division in New York City in 2006, Festival Disney National Competition in Orlando 2007, FAME Orlando in 2008 (Best Repertoire), FAME Chicago 2009 where they earned the caption for Best Choral Tone, and FAME Chicago in 2013 where they were named Grand Champions.
The group is currently under the direction of Jennifer Dice assisted by Greg Sanders.
