CG Debtones, Joel Flynn Named Grand Champions at Pike Music Fest
Center Grove Choral Music continued a strong competition showing at the Pike Music Fest Saturday. Three choirs competed; The Debtones in the Unisex Show Choir division, Sound System in the Mixed Show Choir division and CG Singers in the Concert Choir division. Three students also competed in the solo competition.
The Debtones were named Grand Champions of the Unisex division competing against 8 choirs and also earned awards for Best Choreography and Best Tech Crew. Allison Schifeling was named outstanding performer of the group.
Center Grove’s Sound System achieved 2nd Runner Up in a field of 10 Mixed Show Choirs. Their show won a caption award for the most creative show. Joel Flynn was named the group’s outstanding performer. CG Singers placed 3rd Runner Up in the concert division. Their division included 6 choirs from the region.
In the solo competition, junior Joel Flynn captured the Grand Champion trophy and Megan Timmons received the 3rd Runner Up trophy. These students competed against 35 soloists. Some of the schools competing in this day-long competition included Franklin Central, Ben Davis, Fishers and Brownsburg.
