Center Grove Choirs Honored and Qualify for FAME National Show Choir Competition
Center Grove Choirs were honored at the FAME Regional Concert & Show Choir competitions on Friday, March 22 in Chicago and Saturday, March 23 in Waukegan, IL.
CG singers performed at the Chicago Temple on Friday and won the Grand Champion trophy in the Concert Choir division. This completed their 2013 competition season. Their repertoire included Dies Irae from Mozart’sRequiem and J’entends le Moulin by Patriquin.
Saturday, The Debtones earned the Grand Champion trophy in the Unisex division at the Genesee Theater in Waukegan, IL. Sound System also had a very successful competition in Waukegan. They earned the caption awards for Best Choreography and Best Vocals and were awarded the First Runner up trophy in the Mixed Division. These placements qualified both groups to participate in the FAME National competition in Chicago April 26-27.
This show choir competition was a qualifying event for the Show Choir National Championship Finals to be held in Chicago April 26-27, 2013. Schools from 6 states were represented in the Chicago regional competition. There are 6 regional qualifying competitions including two in Orlando, New York, Hollywood, Branson and Chicago.
The Debtones’ Katie Swaney was recognized for the best female soloist in all of the competing shows. Sound System member Joel Flynn was named best male soloist in all of the competing shows.
The Center Grove choirs are directed by Jennifer Dice and Jared Norman, assisted by Greg Sanders, Sheila Leachman and choreographed by Andy Haines. The next competition for Sound System and The Debtones will be FAME Nationals in Chicago, April 26-27, 2013.
